“Laghat – Il cavallo normalmente diverso”

The film “Laghat – Il cavallo normalmente diverso” (Laghat – The Normally Different Horse) premiered at the Turin Film Festival on Wednesday, November 26, welcoming audiences with an intense, authentic, and deeply emotional story.

Andrea, known as Capoccione, is a young man deeply affected by the pain of losing his mother. He has buried his talent as a jockey behind his daily work as a second-hand dealer alongside his father and brother, giving up the dreams that once filled him with life. Everything changes when he meets up with his old trainer again and, little by little, rediscovers his passion for horses and competition. The turning point comes when he meets Laghat, a horse who is blind in one eye due to a fungal infection, with whom he forms a deep and special bond.

The film, based on the book Laghat, il cavallo normalmente diverso (Laghat, the normally different horse), is directed by Michael Zampino and produced by Alba Produzioni and Videa. The main roles are played by Lorenzo Guidi as Andrea, Carlotta Antonelli as Giulia, and Edoardo Pesce as the father.

Laghat is a coming-of-age story told from two perspectives: that of a boy who must defeat the ghosts of his past and free himself from a suffocating family, and that of a horse who, despite his disability, finds new possibilities thanks to love and care.

A true and moving story, but never sugarcoated: Zampino avoids hagiography and shows the other side of victory, made up of hidden sacrifices, difficult choices, and the courage to emancipate oneself. It is the story of a boy who grows up learning to believe in himself again… and of a “normally different” horse that proves that even what appears fragile can turn out to be extraordinary.
