Chinese New Year and the Year of the Horse: where energy, freedom and travel come together
The celebrations for the Chinese New Year, also known as Chinese New Year< 2 >or the Spring Festival. It is the most important festival in China and in many Asian communities: a time of rebirth, family, new beginnings and good intentions.
In the traditional Chinese calendar, each year is associated with one of the twelve animals of the zodiac. Among these, one of the most beloved and symbolically powerful is the Horse.
The Year of the Horse: energy in motion
L’Year of the Horse ritorna ogni 12 anni e porta con sé qualità che, per chi ama l’equitazione e i viaggi a cavallo, suonano incredibilmente familiari:
- Freedom
- Independence
- Spirit of adventure
- Passion and determination
- Energia inesauribile
Nella tradizione cinese, chi nasce sotto il segno del Cavallo è dinamico, curioso, amante degli spazi aperti e poco incline alle costrizioni. È uno spirito viaggiatore, sempre pronto a esplorare nuovi orizzonti.
Is this not the very spirit that drives those who choose to travel on horseback?
The Horse in Chinese Culture
In China The horse has always been a symbol of success, speed and perseverance. In ancient times, it represented power and prestige: it was the means by which vast expanses could be traversed, territories connected and new trade routes opened up.
Even today, during New Year’s celebrations, it is not uncommon to see decorations, paintings and symbols associated with the animal of the year, which are seen as a symbol of progress and personal fulfilment.
A new year, a new direction
Il Capodanno Cinese non è solo una festa: è un momento di riflessione. Si chiudono vecchi cicli, si lasciano andare le energie stagnanti e si guarda avanti con intenzione.
If there’s ever been a perfect year for:
- go on that horse-riding trip you’ve been putting off for ages
- Explore a new destination
- Put yourself to the test in an authentic experience
- Reconnecting with nature
… it really is the Year of the Horse.
Travelling on horseback: the most authentic way to start a journey
Riding means connecting with another living being. It means slowing down whilst at the same time feeling the pure energy of movement. It means trusting, letting yourself be guided, and guiding.
In this sense, the spirit of the Chinese New Year and that of the equestrian journey converge: both speak of renewal, harmony and direction.
L’Anno del Cavallo ci ricorda che la vita è movimento. E che, a volte, il modo migliore per iniziare un nuovo capitolo è farlo… in sella.
