This protected and unspoilt area is where tradition and nature come together in an indissoluble embrace. To truly discover the soul of this territory, you have to leave the paved roads behind and venture into the wild vegetation, immersing yourself in the most authentic places, such as a \u201cmenade\u201d \u2013 the breeding of Camargue bulls, which represents the beating heart of the region. Here, breeders continue to follow traditional methods of livestock management, handed down from generation to generation.   <\/p><p>The work of these breeders is fascinating and risky, and it is to them that we owe the nickname \u2018cowboys of France\u2019. These men, similar to the more famous Italian cowboys, are experts in working with bulls and handling cattle with incredible dexterity, not only on horseback but also on foot. In the Camargue, there are about 140 farms for breeding bulls and about thirty farms specialising in fighting bulls. Every year, during the first weekend of August, the region is invaded by a vibrant and engaging festival: the <strong>Abrivado<\/strong>. This event brings the local community together for a celebration that features bulls and the skills of the breeders, who compete in spectacular races, gatherings and demonstrations.    <\/p><p>The Abrivado is a unique opportunity to discover the true essence of the Camargue, a land where the relationship with nature and livestock is fundamental. During these events, the work of a farmer is put to the test in spectacular fashion. The bulls are gathered in the arenas and the Camargue races attract thousands of spectators every year, ready to witness breathtaking challenges. The participants, often brave cowboys, rush on foot to grab the rosette adorning the bulls&#8217; heads, running the risk of being gored, and then quickly climb onto a fence to escape the animal&#8217;s fury.   <\/p><p>This is the true soul of the Camargue, a land of tradition, courage and passion for working with bulls. Bull breeding and the hard daily work of Camargue cowboys are the lifeblood of this fascinating and wild region, which continues to live by ancient traditions.
